Newfoundland Viking Heritage

Newfoundland and Labrador’s Viking heritage dates back roughly 1,000 years, when Norse explorers established a settlement at L’Anse aux Meadows on the northern tip of Newfoundland. This remarkable archaeological site provides the earliest known evidence of European presence in North America and remains a powerful symbol of the province’s ancient history and spirit of exploration.
